Artist Profile - Lili
Lili - Band
Lili is about six restless musicians who got bored of listening to the radio hoping to hear something new and appealing. They decided that instead of waiting for someone or some band to re write the rules, they would. It took a year of exploring and experimenting with styles and sounds. They looked at artists and songs that inspired them and spent many hours discussing what it was that moved them about the music.
The outcome is a kaleidoscope of sound quite unlike anything youve heard before. Their music is a sonic fusion of the ideas and influences of six individuals with one common goal to change things. When listening to their songs, your brain is continually confronted with musical ideas that shouldnt work together but somehow theyve managed to gel them seamlessly. The charismatic lead singer Keisher’s voice is emphatic and powerful, this is accompanied by smooth, soaring harmonies from the rest of the band. Their songs which range from brooding lush ballads to high octane electro-rock-soul are about the experiences and observations of growing up in urban London.
For a band little over a year and a half old they are decidedly mature in their approach to music. This is because all members of the band have had years of experience through producing, song writing and session playing/singing for artists such a Darius, Keisher White, Lemar and Faith Evans amongst others. The band spent much of 2005 writing new material and rehearsing, and the year ended with a series of extremely well received gigs at venues Turnmills, The Clapham Grand, Clockwork, West One Four and The Watershed.
The plan is simple, convert the masses to a new sound. This shouldnt be too hard a task as Lili have a stage show which leaves the audience breathless and wanting more. This name is a result of them finding it hard to describe their music, so they decided it would be better to come up with a title for it. Lili are very excited about the release of their first four track ep.
The band will continue gigging and be doing a university tour so look out for them over the coming months.
